ROB GARRETT’S “KING OF DIAMONDS” Neil Diamond tribute Las Vegas residency keeps going strong in the “MODERN SHOWROOMS” at ALEXIS PARK HOTEL.
The legendary Neil Diamond is one of the greatest and most admired singer/songwriters in rock and pop music history.
More than just being one of the biggest selling and most successful live artists ever, he’s also written and recorded the music that defined generations — including some of the most unforgettable songs on the planet.
In early 2018, shortly before his 77th year, Neil Diamond stepped away from live performances after being affected by Parkinson’s.
However, Diamond’s live performance legacy continues to be celebrated for audiences across the globe through Las Vegas entertainer Rob Garrett, often called “the best of the best”.
Ask Siri “who is America’s number one Neil Diamond tribute artist,” and you’ll get the same answer.
Like his idol, Rob Garrett was born in Brooklyn, NY.
In May 1974, his parents moved the family from New York City to the Las Vegas Valley, where, two years later, he witnessed his first Neil Diamond concert when Diamond debuted Rob Garrett Neil Diamond Tribute Show Sweet Caroline in Las Vegas to record crowds at the Aladdin Hotel’s “Theater for the Performing Arts” in July 1976.
Garrett went on to see him 16 more times across the country—right up until Diamond’s last American show at the LA Forum on August 12, 2017.
In 1980, Garrett started his own band, “Rock n Roll Heaven,” and enjoyed a decade-and-a-half career in Las Vegas and across the nation before deciding to move from cover band frontman to a tribute artist dedicated to one of his childhood heroes.
In 1995, Garrett was selected by Paul Revere, leader of “The Raiders” to portray Neil Diamond in the Honolulu production of “Legends in Concert”.
What was meant to be a three-month trial turned into a three-year residency.
By August 1998, Garrett was back in Vegas and continued to perform with “Legends” for another two years before deciding to go independent.
He began a nationwide performance schedule, building a strong worldwide fan community along the way—earning the title “King of Diamonds Neil Diamond Tribute.”
He continues to perform to sold-out venues nationwide, often in venues that typically host major artists.
Garrett has also earned several honors, including “Male Tribute Artist of the Year.”
“Since he (Diamond) announced his retirement, I’ve felt a strong sense of responsibility to keep his legacy alive for future generations. It’s something I never get tired of doing,” he said.
On May 19th officially proclaimed the date “Rob Garrett Day,” commemorating his 50 years living in Las Vegas and 44 years as a professional Vegas performer.
Now in 2025, Garrett celebrates 45 years on stage in Las Vegas, with the last three decades devoted solely to paying tribute to the now-retired Neil Diamond.
It has been said that no other tribute artist is so closely identified with the original performer as Garrett, who has performed his show at more Las Vegas venues than any other tribute artist.
Since the June closing of “A Beautiful Noise” (the Broadway jukebox musical based on Diamond’s life story), Rob Garrett’s “King of Diamonds” show has become the only active Neil Diamond tribute production in America.
The Alexis Park Resort is located at 375 E. Harmon Ave., just ¼ mile west of Paradise Rd..
